| Job Description: |
Develop and maintain the integrity and security of Usanas Unix-based operational systems - which operate 24x7. Conduct system analysis and development with limited support from professional/management staff. The Unix Systems Administrator also provides technical resources such as advice, training, and support to professional/management staff and end-users as necessary.

| Duties/Responsibilities: |
Essential Functions
Work independently to support over 20 Unix servers and workstations, including HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, SCO, and Linux-based systems.
Develop and maintain tape-backup processes and procedures for all production systems.
Maintain DNS, NFS, FTP, mail, and web services.
Install and assist with administering mission-critical software such as databases and web application servers.
Setup and maintain lpr-printing services.
Perform installation and troubleshooting of disks, network-interface cards, memory modules, and CPUs, and other Unix server hardware.
Maintain file systems.
Administer users, groups, passwords, and other aspects of security.
Monitor system logs and activities on all servers.
Provide scripting/programming support for all major projects.
Additional Job Functions
Install and assist with administering mission-critical software such as databases and web application servers (i.e., fundamental Oracle and WebLogic/Apache/Tomcat administration).
Provide basic Unix advice, training, and support to end users such as logging in to a system via telnet, using FTP services, printing a file, etc.
Understand and adhere to GMP policies and procedures.

| Qualifications: |
5 + years experience working with at least two SVR4 variants of Unix (such as HP-UX or Solaris) and associated hardware.
Strong programming experience in C and Perl as well as advanced shell and awk scripting.
Experience outputting and posting HTML/web/e-mail content from a script/program.
Solid understanding of networking concepts and configuration: the OSI model, TCP, IP, routing, firewalls, Ethernet, ATM, Frame Relay, and serial connections.
Ability to frequently use X-Windows, vi, telnet, and command line ftp.
Configuration of inetd and xinetd services such as telnetd, bind (including domain and reverse arpa configuration files), sendmail, ftpd (including anonymous ftp service configuration).
Experience configuring web servers, application servers, and applicable plug-ins including WebLogic, Apache, Netscape/I-Planet, Cold Fusion, Apache, and Tomcat.
Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Configuration of logical volumes using LVM in HP-UX and Linux and/or metadisk utilities in Solaris
Experience configuring and maintaining the lpr print services and NFS
Understanding of multi-tiered applications and the J2EE Java development paradigm.
