Buyer II
Department: Purchasing
Job Description: Works with suppliers within defined spending limits to provide purchases in-line with company strategy and business objectives. Uses analysis and decision-making processes to meet inventory turns and dollar goals, cash outlay, quality and customer service requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities: • Maintains ERP order modifiers for assigned commodities. Understands the ERP/MRP philosophy and uses ERP to plan. Suggests, buys, using personal judgment to assess validity of signals. • Finalizes supplier negotiations, price, volume, contract duration, delivery, terms and other vendor criteria as applicable • Finalizes qualification of new suppliers and/or products • Works with international divisions to hand over purchased product responsibility • Analyzes and works with suppliers on vendor performance issues including but not exclusive to PPV, on-time delivery, quality, service & support, freight, terms and future vendor requirements • Works closely with internal quality departments to assure that quality requirements are met per approved specifications on an on-going basis • Measures purchases within inventory turns, dollar and quantity objectives. • Liaison with internal departments to achieve corporate goals. • Actively peruse new and improved sources for key materials/finished goods. • Issues clear, accurate and legally proper purchase orders. • Manages supplier activity to ensure timely delivery of quality materials. • Writes, updates and creates purchasing policies and procedures as required • Backs up manager duties as required • Mentors and teaches buyers as required • Interacts with internal and external customers to provide outstanding customer service • Able to initialize and manage group projects and activities • Understand and adhere to all GMP policies and procedures
Qualifications: • Bachelor degree preferred with professional purchasing courses and/or CPM, CPIM, CIRM certification required. • Must show proficiency in all duties of Buyer • Minimum 2-4 years as Buyer or equivalent buying experience with responsibilities for multiple commodities and/or products. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. • Working knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, integrated databases, memo writing, etc. • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all essential position duties and responsibilities with or without accommodation and without posing a direct safety threat to others or self. • Able to initialize and manage group projects and activities. • APICS certification preferred. • Great people skills.
Salary Range*: Grade 12
