Benefit Specialist I
Department: Human Resources
Job Description: Performs professional level administrative and analytical duties to develop, maintain and administer company benefit programs and policies.
Duties/Responsibilities: • Monitor, analyze and research utilization experience and trends on assigned benefit programs including utilization patterns, cost trends, and comparative studies; identify and investigate abnormal patterns, compile information and prepare operational and financial reports and analyses of assigned plans. • Mediate problems between employees and assigned plans working with providers and third party administrators. • Recommend solutions within guidelines of plan or following established procedures. • Conduct and/or participate in meetings to describe, explain, and respond to questions concerning various benefits programs. • Effectively implement benefits policies and procedures. • Demonstrate knowledge of manager and employee needs within benefits and apply that knowledge to specific solutions to problems. • Provide expertise and sound judgment on benefits issues to managers and employees within assigned area. • Administration of Benefits Programs including: employee orientation, billing, FMLA/LOA, 401(k) plan, payroll deductions, etc. • Ensure compliance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPPA, FMLA, ADA and Café 125 Regulations • Assist with coordination of wellness programs • Perform other duties as assigned or needed. • Understand and adhere to GMP policies and procedures. • Coordinate special projects as assigned.
Qualifications: • Must have Bachelors degree in business, human resources or related field with Masters Degree preferred. • Ability to interface with managers and employees at all levels of the organization. • Must have 2-3 years previous benefits and/or human resources experience. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all essential position duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.
