USANA’s 2012 Growth 25 retreat was more than just a nice vacation. It was an incredible reward, with lavish gifts and treatment heaped upon those who attended. It was the ultimate networking opportunity. It was a chance to sit down and talk one-on-one with members of the management team. And for many, it was the jumping-off point that will springboard their business to previously unimagined heights.
Members of USANA’s 2012 Growth 25—the 25 Associates who grew their businesses the most over the past year—arrived in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic where, despite blizzards across much of the United States and Canada, it was sunny and warm with a nice Caribbean breeze blowing through the palm trees. It was the perfect place to be.
The group stayed at the beautiful Paradisus Palma Real Resort —an all-inclusive beachfront spectacle including a full-service spa, stunning rooms, and more than a half-dozen restaurants, including one run by 7-star Michelin Chef Martin Berasategui.
But of course, the Growth 25 members did anything but lounge on the beach for a week. The retreat was jam-packed with seemingly endless adventures, including a cultural safari into the mainland where the group visited a sugarcane plantation, saw rum and cigars being manufactured, and learned about coffee and cocoa beans growing as part of the native landscape. They also went snorkeling. Rode dune buggies through the jungle. And zip-lined from mountaintop to mountaintop above rushing rivers and breathtaking jungle valleys.
Back at the resort, the group was shown the royal treatment as USANA left gifts in their rooms every day. The gift people were most excited about was a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Everyone got to select a pair from a display including more than a dozen different options, and Associates wore their stunning new eyewear everywhere they went.
Of course, there was a latent value to the retreat that wasn’t just fun and games. The Growth 25 consists of USANA’s fastest growing Associates in North America. These people get it. They’re experts in building a successful business. And in Punta Cana, they came together in one place where they could network and establish rapport, bounce ideas off each other, and gather tips and suggestions on ways to improve. It was a melting pot of all the best minds in network marketing, gathered together to help make USANA even better.
In addition, Growth 25 members got the rare opportunity to mingle and chat one-on-one with members of the management team. Imagine being able to talk with President Kevin Guest about management’s key focuses for the field. Consider talking to Chief Communications Officer Dan Macuga—on a Caribbean beach, no less—about ways to improve your own social media efforts.
For Ruby Director John Goerlitz, this aspect of the retreat was perhaps the best part of all. “I’m going to tell my team about how absolutely amazing USANA treated us here,” he said. “And especially about how incredible it is to mingle with and talk to members of the executive team.”
The retreat ended with a special gala dinner, which included gourmet food, music, dancing, and even a special performance by Dominican fire dancers. In the end, everyone ended up on the beach in their finest clothes looking up at a spectacular firework display (courtesy of USANA), which lit up the night sky and reflected off of the Caribbean Sea.
It was the perfect ending to a perfect week in paradise.
